SeaXplorer Yacht concepts by Damen

damen-seaxplorer-yacht-concept-01Dutch shipbuilder Damen, in partnership with Azure Yacht Design naval architecture studio and travel experts at EYOS Expeditions, developped the SeaXplorer concept, a fully equipped superyacht for extreme travelers, which will be available in three different lenght-ranges (213-, 295-, and 328-foot).
Damen’s SeaXplorer yachts will be equally comfortable and easily maneuverable in polar opposite conditions, while featuring all the amenities usually found on luxurious superyachts.
Each yacht of the concept, no matter the size, has been designed to stay at sea for 40 days, and to meet the International Maritime Organization’s new Polar Code classification (which will be effective in 2017) required of all vessels going to extreme latitudes. More specifically, they have been designed to get a Polar Class 6 certification: thus the yachts will be allowed to operate in the Arctic and Antarctic seas during summer and fall.
Damen’s yachts will feature its patented Sea Axe bow and hull, able to cut through nearly three feet of sea ice even when traveling astern. An enclosed crow’s nest with panoramic views, perched more than 65 feet above the water, will allow both amazing views and easy navigation.
The SeaXplorers will be ideally equipped for temperate and tropical climates as well, featuring a swimming pool and outdoor lounge space including a sundeck with a hot tub. A dive center with a decompression chamber and a dedicated dive support boat will also be found on board. The ample storage and garage space will house a rescue boat, Zodiac MK-5 inflatables, personal watercraft, and a personal submersible, and, additionally, plenty of vehicles to be used on land, such as motorcycles, mountain bikes but also all-terrain vehicles. Davit-launched lifeboats, up to 29.5 feet in length, can also serve as tenders. Helicopters can be housed in a closed hangar, so to allow even aerial travels from the Sea-Explorer.
The largest yacht in the line will accommodate up to 30 guests throughout four decks and a crew of 50 members. Amenities include an observation lounge at the bow, a skylounge on the bridge deck, an upper-deck main saloon, and many lavish cabins.
Mindful of the pristine environments the yachts will visit, emissions are carefully minimized through plans for zero-discharge waste management and an electric propulsion system. Ready to be realized upon purchase, the SeaXplorer concepts were presented at the last Monaco Yacht Show.
