Elandra 49, luxurious and yet practical motoryacht from Australia

full-Elandra-49Elandra 49 by Australian shipyard Elandra Yachts is taking shape at the motor yacht company’s Gold Coast plant: her sleek, sporty shape has already emerged with completion of the prototype’s hull.
Its anticipated development follows the release of the successful Elandra 53, whose launch in September 2014, marked the beginning of a well-deserved feverish interest from international prospective buyers.
The Elandra 49 sports yacht features the same aesthetic as the previous model, incorporating the brand’s signature broad beam with free-flowing design and impeccable finishes.
Luke Durman, the company’s founder and managing director, said: “Our design team, Tom Barry-Cotter, Grant Senior and draughtsman Simon Paul have worked closely through the development process to ensure a hull design that will deliver unrivalled shaft drive performance and efficiency as an offshore cruising boat. A lot of consideration has gone into working through layouts to create a sports yacht that is really optimised for its size. The boat has been designed with a spacious open-plan saloon, giving the sense of really bringing the outdoors in, and with three cabins it is ideal for young families and people looking for more from a 50-footer in terms of internal volume and space.”
The yacht accommodates owners and guests within two queen staterooms: the full-beam master suite and ensuite with private shower and separate toilet, and the second stateroom with a single or optional double bunk bed cabin on the portside. The expansive saloon includes the aft-cockpit lounge. Concertina bi-fold doors open out to the cockpit, creating a sweeping deck space as in the design of the 53 model. Owners will appreciate the functionality of the storage garage, accessed from the swim platform to provide room for plenty of entertainment equipment such as inflatables and fishing gear.
The vessel, which was made for extended cruising and weekend entertaining, will be powered by twin Volvo D11 670 or Caterpillar C8.7 650 horsepower engines.
The upcoming Elandra 49 is scheduled for release in August 2016, while design is also underway on a used 60-foot plus model.
