feadship_kiss_superyachtKiss superyacht launched by Feadship in February 2015 recently won the International Superyacht Society Design Award 2015 for her category.
The 46.4-metre aluminium superaycht features an exterior design by Ed Dubois and interior styling by Redman Whitely Dixon – the same team who worked on Feadship’s 43-metre Como, launched about a year before Kiss.
The trideck motor yacht shares with Como a similar dimension and same designers, nonetheless she is a different vessel fitting a different owner’s requests. While Como has an open-top deck, for instance, Kiss has a complete master penthouse on the upper deck, which added both volume and weight to the yacht, requiring a revised lines plan.
Moreover, as kiss’s owner required a lower speed of 16 knots, Como’s was 19, she has a different power plant.
Kiss boasts an open-concept interior with large sliding-glass doors, a sporty exterior, and a variety of amenities.
Outdoors, a large sundeck features a raised hot tub and plenty of space for lounging or sunbathing. The transom swim platform features a ladder and a sub-platform that can be lowered below the waterline.
The upper deck is dedicated to a spacious private owner’s suite with its own six-seat dining table and a saloon. On the owner’s deck, an aluminium-plated sunroof opens up to bring natural light in and to access the Jacuzzi.
The interior in shades of gray is decorated with elegant light details, plush couches, and works of art. Accommodation is provided for ten guests in five suites, while crew is hosted in four crew cabins, a staff room and a captain’s cabin near the raised pilothouse.
To build the project Kiss, Feadship standardised its production process incorporating the ones used in Como superyacht. The yard describe the new yacht as “the most complex object ever to have been metallically painted”. Kiss features a metallic black hull with a red stripe on the waterline, that required Feadship to develop special mixing machines and electrically charged spray guns so that the metallic flakes would be in perfect order.
“With yachts like Como and Kiss, we are effectively building a sporty type boat around our average size of over 15 years ago, but now with all the know-how and intelligence Feadship has developed,” says Feadship Director Henk De Vries. “This facilitates a clever approach to high-end production, one which remains entirely custom while keeping the costs of a Feadship of this size within the bounds of reason.”
