Drettmann Yachts’ 24-metre Explorer Yacht launched

Drettmann_ 24m_DEYDrettmann Yachts’ latest project, the Drettmann Explorer Yacht (DEY), has been launched and is ready to make her debut at the upcoming Dusseldorf Boat Show.
DEY is a pocket-sized yacht, only 24 metres long: with her 135 tonne gross tonnage, this yacht is built to be a compact explorer vessel, but she surprisingly hosts all the comforts expected in much larger yachts and is far from sacrificing luxury.
Her overall design is by the in-house designers from Drettmann and Focus Yacht Design, with the interior being a collaboration between Claudia Drettmann and the same yacht design studio.
As for her exterior styling, the yacht looks bold and robust but elegant at the same time, thanks to her modern lines and softened edges. The vessel’s copper coloured hull instead of the traditional all-white superstructure underlines even more her strong and eye-catching appearance.
The standard layout configuration sets guests’ accommodation mostly on the lower deck, while the owner’s suite is located on the forward main deck. Three ample decks will provide plenty of space for outdoor activities. Onboard features include a spacious beach club with sauna and lounge area.
A diesel-electric POD drive is innovative feature allowing to save space onboard and making the yacht more economical, comfortable and easier to handle. According to Claudia Drettmann, “The new drive system is based on tried-and-tested technology, but this is the first time that it has been used in a yacht of this class anywhere in the world. This makes sailing much more fun, makes the vessel perfectly easy to steer, reduces maintenance and optimizes energy utilization. This is just one of the many new features we are proud of.”
The DEY is expected to be able to reach a top speed of 12 knots with a range of about 5,000 nautical miles.
