The 77-metre explorer Legend refitted and launched

LegendThe refitted 77.4-metre explorer yacht Legend originally built in 1974 by IHC Holland Shipyard has been launched in Harlingen, the Netherlands: the refit was primary aimed to upgrade her into an icebreaking passengership.
Diana Yacht Design redesigned her exterior as well as her naval architecture, while Thom Beerens and Jan Verkerk restyled all interior design: the transformation was undertaken by ICON Yachts.
Work done to complete her upgrade include the lengthening of her stern by 3.6 metres, the redesign of her superstructure and the rebuilt of her mast. Her hull was repainted in elegant dark grey, which will make her visible during voyages to the arctic regions. Cranes were added to the vessel to allow for efficient lifting of different tenders and water toys, among which a submarine is also included. The aft deck was converted into a helicopter deck.
Accommodation is provided for up to 30 guests: a generous master suite located on the foredeck, features a king sized bed, a settee sofa, a bar and en-suite bathrooms complete with a Spa pool tub.
The main deck aft hosts a large table for of al fresco dining, with a further indoors dining area.
A fitness room, movie theatre, medical suite, bar and BBQ areas are some of the other amenities found onboard. The music corner, with a Grand piano and other musical instruments for live music, is also a much appreciated feature.
The vessel is powered by Smit-Bolnes engines, allowing for a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.
