AsProNaDi launches the second edition of Diporthesis

DiporthesisAsProNaDi launched the second edition of Diporthesis, a competition for young designers who have realized degree thesis and final projects in the field of naval design. The first edition was held in 2010 and 33 designers coming from 8 different nations, 6 universities and 4 specialized educational institutions had taken part in it. The trophy for the competition has been designed by Epaminonda Ceccarelli, one of the masters in the Italian nautical design. The aim of the competition is to promote the academic excellences who have been working on unconventional, innovative and relevant projects for the nautical industry.
“Design is the motor of the Italian nautical industry – sais Giovanni Ceccarelli, President of AsProNaDi – it is the mark that makes unique our boats all over the worlds and that signs the Made in Italy. The education and diffusion of such culture are essential moments to keep our leadership.”
As for this second edition, there will be three categories: sailing yachts; motor yachts using innovative propulsion systems; functional or technological innovation aimed to develop a better design or realization of a leisure-boat unit.
Students who have completed their studies  after January 31st, 2012 and who have gotten their degree or diploma in Universities or Schools of Design with thesis on nautical projects are allowed to take part to the competition. Thanks to the collaboration with Ucina Confindustria Nautica, the finalist projects up to ten for each category, will be showcased at the next Genoa Boat Show, where three winners will be awarded during a prizegiving ceremony on September 23rd at 11.00 a.m.
