Unfurled, a 46-metre award winning sailing yacht by Vitters

vitters unfurledOne of the most successful Vitters’ sailing yacht projects is the 46-metre high-performance aluminium sloop called Unfurled.  Within the first few months after her delivery, she has begun a stunning racing career and she is already an award winning yacht: Unfurled has won the 2016 St. Barths Bucket.
This high-performance cruiser is the result of the first fruitful collaboration between Vitters Shipyard and Argentinean designer Germán Frèrs, who had already designed another homonymous sailing yacht fort the same owners – a couple of experienced sailors- back in 1999.
Both the design studio and the yard have a great experience in designing and building high-performance cruisers, and their matched expertise created an amazing combination: Unfurled is considered a “distillation” of their past design ideas, in form of a pure design which does not compromise space or performance. The result is a new unique design focused on offering the aboard intimate enjoyment of sailing, living comfort and the thrill of racing experience, thanks to state-of-the-art technology.
Great care was taken of functionality at sea, refining the hull to meet racing yacht standards. The canoe body has a low drag maximum waterline length that has been fitted with a telescopic keel for maximum upwind speed and twin rudders. Lightweight materials are used across the yacht and are part of the reason for her success.
Technical features include a large sail plan with a square-top mainsail complimented a hull with twin rudders, lifting keel, retractable propulsion, a Vitters’ rudder feedback system, pop-up bollards, fast captive winches, a below deck winch pit, deck drainage integrated in the railing, a twin submarine anchor system, and flush covered tender storage serviced with a hydraulic crane. The thrusters are directly driven and able to rotate 90°, which accounts for the flexibility of the vessel.
Oliver Stirling from Stirling & Co was responsible for Unfurled’s sophisticated and innovative interior. The layout houses one full beam master cabin and two guest cabins accommodating up to six guests.
