The Genoa Boat Show 2016 is the most attended of the Mediterranean area

INAUGURAZIONE DEL 46/MO SALONE NAUTICO DI GENOVAThe latest edition of the Genoa Boat Show confirmed and exceeded optimist expectations: with 126.178 attendees, , a +9,2% compared to 2015, it is the most visited boat show of the Mediterranean area. And the number of foreign attendees, 33.618, +26,6%, also confirms that the Italian nautical industry is appealing to abroad markets as well. The foreign exhibitors coming back to the show had already shown that the internal market is restarting to grow.
Exhibitors from all sectors are satisfied with the event: not only most of them having signed important contracts or sold parts of their production during the show, thanks to 2.416 open sea trials, but also the presence of representatives of the Government shows a great attention to the nautical industry, which is growing again after a long crisis and is considered a leading sector in the whole national economy.
Alessandro Campagna, Sales Director of the Genoa Boat Show, said that the next edition of the show is already being imagined, and is to feature new ideas and important projects. Marina Stella, General Director of UCINA, commented: “Genoa confirms to be a global playing field for the boating industry. A leading event for the international market and strategic for the promotion of the Made in Italy”.
“This show is a beautiful confirmation for Genoa, which is willing to keep her role of capital of the nautical industry – said Maurizio Caviglia, Secretary-General of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce – The Chamber of Commerce has done its part for the welcome and the events, and there has been a great synergy with the Region in its institutional stand, where we gave space to the images and the emotions of the city seen from the sea.”
The show had a very positive outcome for the hotel sector as well: Mafalda Papa, President of the Association of the Hoteliers of the Province of Genoa, said that the reservations have increased of a 5-8% if compared to last year, and the increase concerns mostly foreign visitors coming from Switzerland and from the East.
The water sports also benefitted from the show, and the activities related to the project “Navigar m’è dolce”: 2000 were the registrations to participate to the M32 regattas, 1000 young people were involved in school activities, more than 3000 children have tried the simulator at the Port Captaincies’ stand, 650 were the Sub tries in the swimming pools, more than 300 people tried sea sports.
