yacht-med-festival-2016The first edition of the Yacht Med Festival Blue Tunisia Lazio International, which was held at the marina of Gammarth port, Tunisia, has just successfully concluded. Many were the themes around which the five-day international exhibition was organised: nautical industry, touristic and commercial ports, handicraft, history and culture, gastronomy and tourism, logistics and transports, fishing and agricultural industry, education and water sports. All such themes are aimed to enhance the development of the Sea Economy as an opportunity to invest and an occasion to strengthen the institutional and business relationships between Tunisia and Italy. More than 100 exhibitors took part in the event, with 40 stands dedicated to companies coming from Lazio: hundreds of institutional B2B meetings took place in the context of the exhibition. The main Italian and Tunisian companies related to the Sea Economy attended the Festival: just to name some of them, Utap, Api, Cepex, Apia, Fipa, Utica, the Tunisian Ministry of Trade, of Transports and Local Business, the Italian-Tunisian Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce of Latina.
“With this first edition, we wanted to reinforce the collaboration and the exchange between Italy, and in particular the Region of Lazio, and Tunisia” said Mourad Fradi, President of the Italian-Tunisian Chamber of Commerce, underlining the objectives of the event, that is “to spread the culture of the Sea Economy in Tunisia, to make the Gammarth Port an important hub in the Mediterranean area, to allow the Tunisian companies to improve their competitiveness thanks to the Italian know-how in the fields of the Sea Economy and the nautical industry, to enhance the internationalisation, which has become a tangible need for all the Lazio-based and Italian companies looking for new markets.”
The Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Salma Elloumi Rekik, and the Undersecretary General of the Ministry of the Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Bianchi, have expressed their will to restart the collaboration between the two countries around the topic of the cultural heritage and tourism with a series of practical suggestions that will soon be made official in a joint document. “A third of the global tourism chooses the Mediterranean area as destination, and a fourth of the global touristic expenses is made in this geographic area” said Dorina Bianchi, who believes that the main challenge is to identify those flows and the demand for cultural tourism that appears to be not only a powerful means for enhancing existing connections and creating new ones, but also a driving force for the economical growth and for the creation of new jobs.
Mourad Fradi announced that the Yacht Med Festival may become a yearly event.
