The 98-metre superyacht Aviva, built by German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen and launched at the beginning of 2017, has recently been delivered to her owner.
Aviva, just like her owner’s smaller yacht – the 68-metre Aviva launched in 2007 -, was designed by design studio Reymond Langton, which closely collaborated with Toby Silverton on the vessel’s exterior styling.
Aviva’s innovative hull has been created thanks to an extensive research and testing: the result ensures superior seakeeping abilities and a 20% decrease in drag. In terms of fuel economy and performance, this newly designed hull allows for less engine output required, ensures highly-reduced fuel consumption, and a maximum speed of 20 knots. Moreover, the hybrid drive system allows Aviva to run at up to 11 knots without the use of the main engines.
Andrew Langton of Reymond Langton Design so commented on the project: “The biggest yacht from Abeking & Rasmussen features a fresh and dynamic contemporary exterior design, unique, highly personalised layout for the interior and a cutting edge technical platform.”
The exterior design was inspired by automotive design: the blue hull and taut, chamfered elements of the superstructure in metallic silver, create a strong contrast of light and shade and enhance the sleek profile of the vessel.
The concept behind the interior layout and styling stands out from the usual approaches to large yachts interiors. This is how Andrew Langton presented it: “Aviva is intended as a home away from home, and as a result the layout moves away from current trends to maximise the spaces that will be used the most, and create a welcome, inviting atmosphere, with a combination of spacious, open social lounges alongside more intimate and discreet areas for dining, working and relaxation. The interior design features a number of avantgarde architectural elements and details, and uses a rich combination of fabric and leathers in light, warm tones.”
Till von Krause, Abeking & Rasmussen Sales Director, said: “We are very proud to present our latest superyacht, Aviva. This is the result of the highest workmanship and best communication between the owner and his team during the short period of less than three years.”
