Columbus Yachts enters the large superyacht market

Columbus Yachts has entered the large superyacht market with a full displacement 80-metre superyacht project, currently under construction and expected for delivery in 2018.
This project is the beginning of a range that will be increased in sizes so to strengthen Columbus Yachts’ position.

The hexa-deck yacht’s exterior design has been developed by Hydro Tec in collaboration with Columbus Yachts: the result is a well balanced figure, with a longitudinal sweep of the bow recalling tradition.

Her interior styling and layout has been designed by Guida Design and Columbus Yachts: a rational layout ensures great comfort and convenience at sea.

With two lateral tender garages aft, access is through a boarding platform with direct access to the lobby and lift. The circular glass lift connects the five main decks from the lower one to the sundeck.

The sundeck is one of the most remarkable spaces onboard, aside from the aft beach club which can be extended from 100 to 200sqm thanks to retractable walls. The sundeck offers excellent views of the surrounding seascape and it features a 7-metre pool with counter-current swimming system and hydro-massage tub.

The yacht also features two forward garages for a further tender and three jet-skis. Other amenities include a sauna, gym and private cinema.

The upper deck hosts the owners’ suite, offering stunning panoramic views. Six more double guest suites are located forward on the main deck, and a seventh cabin can be found on the lower deck. Crew quarters for 19 are located forward on the lower deck.

3044 Horse power generated from twin MTU engines propel the yacht to a cruising speed of 12 knots for a range of 6,000 nautical miles.

Columbus yacht has applied a new approach to manufacturing this superyacht project by “Working in parallel and not in series”, explained Francesco Carbone – Columbus Yachts’ General Manager.

The steel hull is currently being built at the Palumbo Group’s facilities in Naples, and it will be completed by the end of 2017. It will then be moved by barge to the sister facility in Ancona, where it will be married to the pre-fabricated aluminium superstructure. According to the yard, constructing the yacht in two sections concurrently will shorten the delivery time by 32 weeks.
