Columbus Yachts announced that the hull of their latest 80m Columbus yacht has been moved from Naples and is currently heading to their facilities in Ancona. Scheduled for delivery in 2018, the steel hull and the aluminium superstructure will soon be joined.

Once completed, the new vessel will be Columbus’ largest project to date. The yacht is the product of the collaboration of Columbus Yacht with Hydro Tec, which is responsible for the development and exterior design, and Guida Design which created the interior design. Up to 12 guests are comfortably accommodated across eight cabins, including the private owner’s deck.

The new 80m Columbus superyacht will be powered by twin MTU engines, allowing for a top speed of 16.5 knots. At a cruising speed of 12 knots she will boast a range of 6,000 nm.

About the impressive shortening of the delivery time for this new superyacht, the yard stated: “Columbus 80m, the first megayacht of a series that will grow on larger sizes, is a full- displacement megayacht with steel hull and aluminum superstructure built with an unusual construction process for yachts of this size that required great organizational skills: the construction has thus been split into different sites, and carried out in parallel rather than in series following the same quality requirements but accelerating time to delivery, which has shortened by about 8 months.”
