Mills 73 Maxi Dolphin, the new sailboat by Maxi Dolphin

A render of Mills 73 Maxi DolphinElegance, technology, comfort and performance: these are the elements that best describe the new Mills 73 Maxi Dolphin which is being built in the Maxi Dolphin shipyard in Erbusco (Brescia): a new and prestigious sailboat cruiser/racer designed by the famous Irish designer Mark Mills together with the Nauta Design studio for the interiors to enhance its value.

Light, fast and easy to control

The Mills 73 Maxi Dolphin is designed to offer the best performance during a regatta but, at the same time, it guarantees the utmost comfort while cruising and expertly encompasses all the shipowner’s expectations. Thanks to the project manager’s great expertise and awareness this boat is easy to sail, fast with an excellent performance but it is also comfortable and welcoming allowing you and your family to fully experience the sea.

“We’ve developed the design together with the Project Manager and the owner – explains Mark Mills – who believe in a simple and light design. This vision has been essential in order to achieve the required performance and led to the design of an extremely stylish, water skimming, clean and uncluttered main deck, with all the sheave deck organisers running below deck up to the winches located at the bow in front of the rudders” says Mark Mills.

The Mills 73 Maxi Dolphin, made of carbon will have a swing keel: “This way it can make the most of the speed performance, given by the square-top mainsail” goes on to explain Mills.

Plenty of space for the utmost comfort

The interior design of the new Mills 73 Maxi Dolphin by Nauta Design is inspired by a timeless marine style with a modern twist, where light and clean lines are the leitmotiv of its dĂ©cor and geometry. Bulkheads, walls and furniture are all decorated “lambris” (wainscoting) style: the lower part has a “scratched” oak effect that gives out a warm and welcoming sensation, while the upper part has white panels that emphasise the pureness of the design.

Thanks to the layout, all the areas have generous spaces. The very wide and only slightly inclined ladder leads to the large saloon with a dining area and table that seats 6/8 people and a large lounge sofa that can easily accommodate four people lying down.

Right from the bow, it is possible to access the sleeping area, that holds up to 7 beds divided in 3 comfortable cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms and separate shower rooms.

The large forward master stateroom holds a double bed and has a spacious en-suite bathroom, with double washbasins, and a separate shower cabin.

The guest cabin on the left has twin beds that can be converted in a double bed if necessary and thanks to the additional Pullman bed become three. Finally, the third guest cabin is towards stern, starboard of the engine room, and has a double bed with a private bathroom.

The open plan galley is aft of the saloon on the left offering a better quality on board service, and is designed in the same style. The crew cabin is through the galley and has bunk beds. The Mills 73 also has a convenient and functional garage for a 3,27 m tender.
