Perini Navi’s 38-metre sailing yacht Dahlak delivered

perini-navi_dahlakPerini Navi recently delivered their 60th sailing yacht, the 38-metre Dahlak, to her owners at the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia, Italy.
Designed by Philippe Briand, Dahlak is the perfect balance between comfortable cruising and sailing performance. The new vessel echoes the world renowned designer’s previous appreciated projects: her lines and hull shape are the same of her sister ship P2, the regatta yacht which took part in more than 25 races and got to 15 podium positions. She features an elegant and yet sportive exterior design thanks to her long, streamlined waterline length. One of the most important focus of the project was, however, on sailing performance, as Dahlak is the second 38-metre sailing yacht in the performance series.
Perini Navi’s proprietary sail handling system allows the owner to sail this vessel single-handed with ease. The latest generation fully automated electric captive winches, engineered in-house, are controlled by one joystick and ensure efficient and controlled manoeuvres. This leaves the deck and cockpit unobstructed while also improving safety onboard.
The innovative Lithium polymer battery system, named “Silent Night”, enables the yacht to be operated purely under battery power, including while sailing, without the need of a generator: as its name clearly suggests, the system also allow for extremely silent cruising.
The contemporary interior has been designed in-house with great care for natural light, and with the finest materials.
“This is an excellent example of how Perini Navi evolves with our clients. Building on our in-house expertise, our team has delivered the most innovative sail handling and stored power systems to date,” said Enrico Dell’Artino, CEO of Perini Navi.
