US-MaritimeAdministrationThe Maritime Administration (MARAD), the agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation dealing with waterborne transportation, has released the Energy Efficiency White Paper, a document providing marine-vessel owners and operators with information on how to evaluate potential investments in efficiency measures and technologies.
The Maritime Administration works in many areas involving ships and shipping, shipbuilding, port operations, vessel operations, national security, environment, and safety. The white paper has been produced by Glosten, an independent company of maritime engineers and naval architects providing innovative maritime solutions to global clients.
The document highlights the latest energy efficiency measures currently available for marine vessels, with extensive explanations on how the state-of-the-art technologies work on potential fuel savings, applicability to different kinds of vessels, and lifecycle costs. The final report can be read here.
