Reintjes propulsion systemsIlumen Kalliente, M/Y Seasense, GTT 115, Cloud 9, Game Changer, just to name a few of the yachts exhibited at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show that are equipped with a Reintjes propulsion system. Not only because of that Reintjes is looking forward to Monaco Yacht Show 2017, taking place from 27th to 30th of September.

Furthermore the power train specialist is proud to present its new Down Angle technology on its booth no. QJ7. The recent developed product range of Down Angle gearboxes enables a smaller engine room design, which is the result of a reduced height of the power train. This is made possible by the inclination angle of 8° or 10° between the engine/input shaft and propeller/output shaft inside the gearbox, allowing for a horizontal installation of the main engine. Further benefits of the new Reintjes technology are the efficient performance due to a weight-optimised design and the key benefit is the low operating noise of this gearbox type due to optimal tooth flank corrections.

Regarding the development of this new gearbox series, called WVSA, Dr. Steffen Otto, Reintjes Vice President Engineering, states: “Our WVS gearboxes for fast vessels provided a solid and reliable basis for our new gearbox series WVSA and our customers appreciate the reliable Reintjes quality, which applies to our new products just as much as to the well-known ones.”

The first exhibited gearbox is a WVSA 940 with an engine rating of 3,175 kW at 2,450 rpm. It possesses a shaft angle of 8° and its covers are replaced with glass panes, so that the inner parts are displayed best possible for all MYS visitors.
