S.A.F.E.S.A.F.E. is a new hi-low stern platform for boats powered by outboard engines whose system was designed by J&J Design and whose lifting mechanism was developed by Opacmare. S.A.F.E. was unveiled at the latest edition of METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam.

S.A.F.E. creates a full-beam private beach on the aft end of the boat, allowing an easy and safe access to the water. Thanks to the patented electro-hydraulic lifting mechanism the platform can be adjusted on three different levels:

  1. LOW: When the boat is at the anchor, the platform upper face is approximately 10cm underwater levelS.A.F.E.
  2. RIDE: When the boat is sailing the platform is levelled with the cockpit
  3. HIGH: To allow the engines to be trimmed out

S.A.F.E. is synchronized with the outboard trim system of the outboard engines:

  • When the platform is under water the engines cannot be started
  • When the engines are running the platform cannot be lowered
  • When the platform is in HIGH configuration, engines can be trimmed up

The system is suitable both for monohulls and catamarans up to 50ft with single/double/triple/quad engines.

The major benefits and features are shown in the promotional video:

  • Complete safety from propeller danger.
  • Easy water access: children and elderly come easy in and out of the water without the need of the bathing ladder
  • Easy and safe dock access on high position: platform on level with the pontoon
  • Small tender and water toys can be easily lifted out of the water and stored on the platform
  • Deck area increased up to 30%
  • Private island area at the stern
  • Stabilization of boat at rest with the platform in the lower position
  • Better protection of outboard engines during docking
  • Improved sport-fishing ability: walk-around at the stern
  • Joystick manoeuvring preserved
  • Deck access steps integrated with the system (self-adjusting)
  • Emergency engine kick-up function preserved by a dedicated hatch in the platform
  • Propeller check/clean/change possibility
  • Smartphone remote activation
