JEC World, which has taken place every year for more than half a century (except the hiatus during the pandemic), brings together the entire composite material value chain in Paris, France, a country that has always been a hub of composite in the world.
The event is the annual meeting opportunity not only for all the main stakeholders of the composites industry, but also for innovative startups in the field of advanced materials, experts, scientists and leaders in Research&Development. A unique showcase of what composites can offer and an unlimited source of inspiration.
Every year, there have been hundreds of applications to participate, and this success demonstrates how the event is recognized as a tool to identify and promote innovations in the composite materials industry.
The composites industry
The composites industry is a very dynamic sector with significant growth prospects. The most commonly used materials are glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) and carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), followed by aramid or natural fiber reinforced composites.
After a drop in production volumes in 2020, the global composite materials industry is returning to pre-pandemic growth rates, with energy, construction and building, marine and consumer goods are quickly recovering. Important growth opportunities are opening as well in emerging sectors such as electric and hydrogen vehicles.
In the future it is expected that composites, thanks to their high performance, lightness, energy efficiency, will have an ever wider range of applications and markets.
From 2021, the composite market growth is expected to be above pre-pandemic levels.
