POWER/FUEL PUMPS for outboard, inboard and inboard engines

Omnimec Marine is a reference point of excellence for technical articles and spare parts for outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines of all brands, becoming an important name in the boat propulsion systems sector. The passion and technical-commercial knowledge of professional Marco Meda were the seed from which Omnimec was born, initially specializing in technical solutions for inboard boat propulsion.

Today, the offer to the nautical market also includes:

  • Production and distribution of technical articles for boats with outboard, inboard, and sterndrive propulsion, thus covering almost entirely any type of boat propulsion systems.
  • Production of TRIM and TILT spare parts for outboard engines of all makes and inboard engines.
  • Production of complete shaft lines.
  • Distribution of technical accessories for engine rooms.

Since starting operations in the 1980s, the company has built valuable partnerships that have endured over time, now serving 500 customers, the most recent of which was acquired in July.

Historical Background

The story began with a contract machine shop, which for nearly two decades operated as a subcontractor for the Eliche Radice company; after about twenty years, it also partnered with SBM of Villasanta and moved to Paderno Dugnano, expanding its premises. A crucial moment came in 2000/2001, which coincided with the official launch of the Omm Marine Division and the first participation in the METSTRADE trade fair in Amsterdam.

Over time, the sales network expanded, and with the establishment of an in-house Technical Department, the company focused on the design, production, and sale of products for shaftline boats. The direction shifted when Indemar became the commercial reference in Italy and abroad for the Omm Marine brand, while production remained in-house. This solution, after a few years, brought the sales network back in-house, with new investments that allowed for the incorporation of another mechanical workshop for third-party machining in sectors outside of marine.

The Birth and Development of Omnimec

From 2011, Marco Meda managed the commercial side of the new company, Tor Marine, until 2015, when he decided to found Omnimec independently: a purely commercial, non-productive entity. Attendance at METS led to meetings with industry professionals, including Mekanica Draghetti, which produces outboard engine parts for all brands (inboard and outboard, Volvo and MerCruiser) and also operates as a subcontractor in sectors outside of marine (e.g., Defense, Leonardo, Lamborghini).

This company, founded in the province of Modena by Gianni Draghetti and now led by his son Luca, is ISO 9000 certified and stands out for its rich artisanal identity, yet managed with a structured industrial approach. Thanks to an immediate understanding between Mekanica Draghetti and Omnimec, a successful partnership was born in 2019: the former takes care of the operational and production aspects of the spare parts, while the latter acts as a sales representative, buying and marketing all their products under the Omnimec brand.

Business Activities

Today, Omnimec Marine’s focus has shifted to outboard engine parts and parts for inboard engines and propulsion systems, for which the company detects significant demand. However, it has not abandoned shaft lines and spare parts for shaft lines, which it purchases in Italy and sometimes abroad, and has also become an official dealer of Fluiten mechanical seals.

All technical items can be supplied with certification upon request.Omnimec’s sales network is based on a solid network of regional multi-firm agents, who are very active especially in Southern Italy, in Puglia and Basilicata, but also in Tuscany and the Triveneto. The presence in Sardinia is growing: for instance, for Draghetti and Fluiden products, there is an ongoing partnership with Sno Yachts, a large shipyard in Olbia that manufactures and repairs inflatable boats.

One of the objectives for the near future is to relaunch and increase business abroad, where the company sells directly to some customers without exclusivity, and for several years now it has been entering into partnerships with major companies throughout Europe. In recent times—like in all sectors, due to historical circumstances—sales outside Italy have declined, from 65% domestic and 35% abroad, to 90% domestic and 10% abroad. Marco Meda is confident in a rapid recovery, and thanks to the ability to offer a global service, is preparing to strengthen collaborations with international groups.

Customer Service

Omnimec Marine’s range of partners extends from simple enthusiasts and water sports fans to multinationals looking for technological solutions to further develop their products. It is essential for the company to respond to every need of its Italian and international customers promptly, and it is also available for last-minute requirements: if a request is received in the morning, the product is shipped the same day; if the communication arrives in the afternoon, the shipment is ready the following morning.

During the pandemic emergency, the company inevitably faced some difficulties in procuring rubber and raw materials, which slowed down some deliveries. However, production never stopped and, in fact, Omnimec saw an opportunity to introduce new elements during that period. After a relatively uncertain 2021, 2022 brought great satisfaction and provided a more complete picture of the most popular accessories and parts, on which to base the production and sales strategy.

Fairs and Innovations

Elco outboard remote

Omnimec has continued to actively participate in various boat shows and trade fairs over the years, including the Genoa Boat Show and METS, which provide valuable opportunities to present the season’s innovations. Currently, a collaboration is underway with Transfluid, a company that sells full hybrid or fully electric applications for inboard engines of their own production.

To extend its range to outboards, Transfluid purchased an American product called Elco, featuring 5 models of outboards with the option of a steering wheel throttle, and the Elco-dash, a Bluetooth device that allows monitoring of speed, consumption, and other key metrics. Omnimec Marine is responsible for its distribution and presented the product exclusively at the Genoa Boat Show. Additionally, a recent collaboration with PTZ has been announced for the exclusive distribution of power pumps in Italy, with the products set to be available in the 2024 catalog.
