Commander, a 42.5m explorer motoryacht by Floating Life and CCN

A new 42.50-metre explorer vessel is being created thanks to the well known expertise of Swiss-based Floating Life and Carrara-based CCN-Cerri Cantieri Navali: the partners unveiled the project at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
Commander is a steel yacht with aluminium superstructure, fitting the Light Ice class. She has been developed from the hull of the K40, featuring engineering and exterior styling by Studio Sculli and currently under construction at CCN facilities in Carrara.
Modern and aggressive exterior lines, combined with an extensive use of glazed surfaces, draw a bold and contemporary yacht. “The design of the C415 – explains Mauro Sculli – is what I would call ‘transversal’. i.e. a compromise between different types of yachts, mainly an explorer and a traditional, modern craft, combined with the wish to include elements that would immediately and clearly reflect CCN’s distinctive style”.
Innovative solutions have been applied to the interior layout: spacious generous volumes and plenty of relaxation and sunbathing areas offer guests the utmost comfort.
The owner’s deck includes, besides the master suite, a private pool at the bow. Another infinity edge pool can be found aft on the upper deck for guests. The main deck layout is original and versatile: the dining room is forward and leads to an outdoor lounge area, while the aft stores a 10-metre tender and water toys, but can be converted into a conversation area.
Well-being areas are also present at the stern of the lower deck, where 4 cabins can also be found. The lower deck also features a spacious beach-club with a bar and conversation area.
Great care has been devoted to the yacht’s eco-friendliness, and a bi-fuel solution is currently being explored. The Commander 415 will be powered by 2 CAT C32 ACERT engines, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The C415 can travel to a range of 5,400 miles at cruising speed, which makes her the ideal vessel for long trips.
