The first SD35 motor yacht Gipsy is an outstanding 35-metre all-aluminum semi-custom vessel design by Otam, Organizzazione Tigullio Assistenza Motoscafi. Otam, born in the late Fifties as one of the first maintenance and refit boatyards in Liguria, Italy, is the responsible of the restructuration of the new boatyard close to Genoa International Airport and is a Riva yachts Service Centre: the company started building its own yachts in the Nineties and in recent years increased a production that met a significant response from the public.
Its newest model features naval architecture by Umberto Tagliavini and OTAM Engineering, while the design of both exteriors and interiors is by Tommaso Spadolini.
The upper deck will be entirely to her owner, with a luxurious full beam suite offering ample views and privacy. Up to ten guests will be comfortably accommodated over five VIP cabins with twin and double beds and relative en-suites bathrooms, all to be located on the lower deck. The main deck of Gipsy yacht will be dedicated to guest leisure and entertainment, hosting a generous main salon with movie theater and a full-beam dining area. There will also be service areas, with a top class galley and a pantry with separate access for the crew (which will be of 6 members in four dedicated cabins).
Entirely aluminium-made, the Otam SD35 luxury yacht Gipsy will be run by twin CAT ACER 32 – 1.415kW@ 2300RPM diesels. She will be able to reach a top speed of 22 knots and a range of 1,000 nm at a speed of 11 knots, thanks to her very efficient semi-displacement hull. The hull, moreover, features below the waterline semi-tunnels that limit the draft: this makes the vessel very versatile and ideal for comfortable cruise of the international waters like US and the Caribbean, where a limited draft becomes a key factor to consider.
With launch in 2016, she is currently being constructed at the Genoa-based shipyard: 30% of this new project has already been completed. The hull of the vessel has been finished, and her superstructure as well is near to completion, while propulsion systems and generators have been also installed.
