realvu-3d-historicalGarmin Italia, a unit of Garmin Ltd.,  announced that its popular Panoptix all-seeing sonar technology is now available with a thru-hull mounting installation, an ideal sonar solution for coastal fishermen with larger boats. With the PS60 Panoptix thru-hull down transducer, fishermen can see real-time moving sonar images below the boat. The PS60 is the newest member of the Panoptix transducer family, which also includes transom- and trolling motor-mount options.
“Panoptix is a game changer for inland and offshore anglers alike,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “Unlike traditional or scanning sonar that only shows the history of what you’ve passed over, Panoptix allows you to see real-time images under your boat, including your lure and the fish attacking it. We’re excited to offer this revolutionary technology with a thru-hull installation option, making it available to a broader range of anglers.”
This unique and innovative sonar technology provides a live view of what’s below the boat, even while stationary. With a PS60, fishermen can utilize three remarkable views: LiveVü Down, RealVü 3D Down, or RealVü 3D Historical.
LiveVü Down provides real-time moving sonar images below the boat. With LiveVü Down, see small baitfish and large target fish swimming around and pinpoint their distance left or right, and their depth.
RealVü 3D Down digitally scans the area below the boat from front to back and side to side. A full 3D view of the area under the boat is constructed, showing bottom contour changes, fish and structure, even while stationary.
RealVü 3D Historical gives the user a wealth of sonar data. It scrolls through the data as the boat moves to show the history of entire water columns – from the bottom to the surface and all of the fish in between. Bottom contours and fish pop in vivid color in three dimensions.
For thru-hull installation, the Panoptix PS60 includes a stainless steel stem, fairing block, and mounting hardware for a boat with a deadrise between zero and 25 degrees. It’s equipped with an internal Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) sensor that constantly adjusts sonar beams to compensate for boat motion.
The Garmin Panoptix PS60 thru-hull transducer will be available in November with a retail price of €3,999. All of the Panoptix transducers are compatible with the Garmin GPSMAP® 7400/7600 series, GPSMAP 8000/8500 series and GPSMAP 7×1, 8×0, and 10×0 series chartplotters.
