Ngoni, a 58-metre sailing yacht by Royal Huisman

NgoniNamed Ngoni, Royal Huisman’s latest sailing yacht, which was unveiled at the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show, is currently being built at the shipyard’s facilities in Vollenhove. Construction is ongoing since January 2015 and her launch is scheduled for spring 2017.
Ngoni’s owner was looking for a vessel where he could actively be involved in the pursuit of speed: “I want to get off the wheel after a day of sailing feeling completely knackered from the excitement of hands-on fast sailing,” he said. The 58-metre sailing yacht designed by Ed Dubois perfectly matches such wishes, combining speed with true ocean-going cruising in full luxury and comfort.
Her aluminium hull is shaped with a plumb bow, with a sleek and streamlined deckhouse on top. Her foredeck features room enough for a tender garage and a spa pool near the base of the mast: at the stern, a grand staircase leads to the swim platform.
The yacht is to be fitted with a single full-carbon 71-metre Rondal mast, to which a custom in-boom furler designed to carry a square-head main sail by North Sails is attached. A carbon fibre rigging system by Carbo-Link holds the mast in place, providing a 70 percent weight saving.
The profile below the waterline is kept clean thanks to two submarine anchors and a retractable bow thruster. A solid-aluminium lifting keel can support about 100 tonnes of fin and lead bulb weight.
The interior styling has been designed by Rick Baker and Paul Morgan.
