A new boat show to be organised in Viareggio

While the disagreements between Ucina and Nautica Italiana are leading some of the main Italian brands to choose Cannes and to avoid attending the Genoa Boat Show, a new location is starting to be discussed for a new Italian boat show: Viareggio. Alberto Galassi, ad of the Ferretti Group, said that Genoa is not able to give the conditions for a participation in a big way, this being the reason why the group decided to take part in the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Monaco Boat show, but it is also ready to invest in some other Italian locations such as Porto Cervo, Capri or Viareggio.
Katia Balducci, president of Navigo, the brand that started the nautical event dedicated to the refit sector in Viareggio, is taking part in the organization of a new boat show to be set together with Satec and Yare.
“In this complex context we surely have to stress that Viareggio and Tuscany have a central position in the big yachts sector – said Katia Balducci – As Navigo, a fundamental actor in the Tuscan nautical industry, we are certainly glad of the attention given to this district. We are ready to take the technical and operative role in a large-scale international event, thanks to the experience we gained in the organization of Yare, a b2b event for captains and in the support at the World Superyacht Awards in Florence, event with the presence of ship owners. The “Show of the Sea”, according to our vision, doesn’t aim to be in conflict with the Genoa Boat Show, because the hypothesis of an exposition in Viareggio would be dedicated to the high-end yacht sector and it would be scheduled in a different time of the year, so to guarantee a further and more focused opportunity for the products of our district. It is important, for this reason, to first carry out all verifications on the technical and economical feasibility of the project. As a service center, we have always been absolutely impartial and collaborative in the actions that have been done in our region, if useful to the segment enterprises, so, in our opinion the event should be an inclusive moment to reconcile also the two national associations.”
