Signs of recovery for the nautical industry in Lecco

Share:

lecco_porto-turisticoThis year ends with signs of recovery for the nautical industry in the province of Lecco: 110 active companies with 380 employees. The 90% of the production is destined to exportation.
Data from the fourth edition of the CNA Report “Market dynamics and perspectives of the boating industry”, a useful insight for companies and institutions to define future strategies, confirms so. Various local employees of the nautical industry gathered at a meeting organised by the Patto per la Nautica Lariana at the Chamber of Commerce in Como to discuss such insight.
Lorenzo Policardo, Nautica Italiana’s Secretary and CNA’s consultant, outlined that the 90% of the production of the country in the sector is absorbed by export. The domestic market is still very week and, moreover, it is mainly characterised by small and medium size motorboats, inflatable boats and sailing boats. In the province of Lecco, part of the region with the highest number of companies related to the nautical industry (30%), the signs of recovery are slight : data updated at September 30th say that there are 110 companies with 380 employees.
To enhance this shy growth, there could be various strategies linked to the territory, such as improving services, so to use them to draw the growth of the whole sector. “It could be a way to attract more people to our territory – explained Annarita Polacchini, coordinator of the group on competitiveness, inside of which years ago a work group was created to define the Patto per la Nautica Lariana – it is a way, which doesn’t mean precluding work on others. We should focus on experiential competitiveness, linked to the characteristics of our places. Moreover, we should create a network: no more the single shipyard, but the whole territory to move altogether.”
As explained by Enzo Fantinato, the nautical manager of the regional CNA, to have a strong brand is crucial. The whole territory has in fact been presented through its global essence at the Interboot show, Friedrichshafen, including both nautical industry and water sports, territory, gastronomy, active tourism, green areas and culture. The meeting has been a very useful way to share insights and perspectives on the development of both the sector and the whole local community.
