Amer 94, third hull of the seriesPermare’s Amer 94 series of motor yachts designed by Massimo Verme will from now on be offered with a more efficient twin 1,000hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS 1350 engine option. Presented at the 2017 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival, the new pod-drive unit further bolsters the performance credentials and fuel efficiency of the Italian yard’s 28.65-metre range of flybridge yachts.

Estimated consumption figures for the Amer 94 with twin IPS 1350 installed include 15 liters per mile at its maximum speed of 27 knots and 14 liters per mile at a cruising speed of 23 knots. Cruising at a speed of 9 nine knots, the Amer 94 will be able to cruise for more than 1,600 nautical miles without needing to refuel its 5,000-litre tank.

This system also includes joystick control for more precise maneuvering and a dynamic positioning system, which allows the yacht to stay in a given spot without dropping anchor, a feature which turns out very useful when visiting environmentally sensitive areas.

Barbara Amerio, Amer Yachts‘ owner, commented: “The new Amer 94 is born from a continuous desire to challenge ourselves. We want to break the 3.5 liter-per-mile thresholds of fuel consumption we have set in the past at a slow cruising speed. We want to build a boat that offers a great deal of choice in allowing customers to navigate for longer periods at low revs.”

Permare’s more powerful triple IPS 900 set-up is still available to order. The recently launched Drifter, hull number three, was equipped with this engine set-up and achieved a top speed of 29 knots on her sea trials.
