European debut for Pearl 80 in Cannes

Pearl 80

Pearl 80Along with Pearl Yachts‘ new flagship, Pearl 95, the 24-metre motor yacht Pearl 80 will be showcased on the occasion of the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival for her European debut.

The Pearl 80, introduced last year, was designed in collaboration with long-term collaborator Bill Dixon and Kelly Hoppen and features impressive manoeuvrability and exceptional comfort. With a length of 24 metres and a 6-metre beam, the new model stands out for the large, luxurious spaces and the outstanding levels of comfort.

Distinctive exterior
Dixon has once again provided the distinctive exterior styling and hull design for the Pearl 80. Lines are aerodynamic with a huge focus given to both the large windscreen and the three tiers of glazing seen from each side. The generous strip of continuous windows close to the waterline make for an extremely well illuminated lower deck, whilst on the main deck the effect is of a conservatory roof flooding the galley area with light. Seen from the water, the boat looks like a dart or an arrow, crafted for speed and efficiency. Construction is in vacuum infused GRP and the yacht features a white gel coat finish.
Bill Dixon commented: “Apart from the obvious attributes of style and performance, the Pearl 80 wins by being adventurous in design. Offering clients unique and interesting design solutions to enhance tomorrows yachting lifestyle.”

Designer interior styling
Designed by the award-winning interior designer Kelly Hoppen MBE, the Pearl 80 is offered with three alternative interior themes; ‘Studio’, ‘Taupe’ and ‘Luxury’. ‘Studio’ is bright and fresh characterised by stripes and rich browns. ‘Taupe’ has pale joinery contrasted by calming earthy tones such as fawns, ivories and warmer greys, whilst ‘Luxury’ has the feel of a chic modern apartment with polished surfaces, nickel and accents of black. Clients can expect plenty of variety in fabrics and textures with highly considered contrasting tonalities. Both darker and lighter kinds of wood are used to add a sense of visual depth, whilst high-gloss, white lacquered ceilings provide reflection, adding to the sense of spaciousness. Known for her love of grey and neutral tones, each interior style contains Hoppen’s unmistakable hallmarks, ensuring decor schemes that are as timeless as they are elegant. Clients can be sure that onboard they will relax in interiors worthy of a five-star hotel. A suite of Kelly Hoppen curated accessories such as table lights, vases, cushions and candles complement the design.
Kelly Hoppen commented: “The design is traditional yet contemporary; clean lines and neutral hues enhance the overall space creating a sense of effortless style. We have incorporated touches of cool grey into my signature palette of taupe’s and beiges to creating a stunning, yet calm, interior.” She also adds, “I am delighted to collaborate with Pearl Yachts once again and proud to be part of creating a design that I believe will stand the test of time.”

Optimised interior
Listening to the feedback from clients, Pearl Yachts has adapted the full beam saloon so that space is entirely dedicated to a lounge area of low modular sofas. “In most boats of this size the saloon is dominated by a large dining area but we found our clients rarely actually ate there, preferring to eat on-deck or on shore,” explained Pearl Yachts’ Managing Director, Iain Smallridge. A seating area alongside the helm and bar further aft provide alternatives. Extensive specialist glazing maximises light to the saloon, galley and internal helm areas creating bright, open spaces. The galley features a rise and fall panel through to the saloon enabling a social aspect to food preparation and fluidity to space.
On the lower deck, passing through a small entrance hall is the spacious full beam owner’s cabin. “With the deep V hull and through intelligent design we’ve maximised internal space,” said Smallridge. This means owners get the use of a walk-in closet and a generously proportioned master head. The cabin is flooded with light from panoramic portholes on each side. A sofa and vanity table either side of the large bed and plenty of floor space add to this yacht’s class beating appeal.
Further forward are two twin guest cabins with the option to be converted into doubles. Both with En-suite bathrooms, these cabins are exceptional for the large internal window panel they both feature. This design feature dramatically increases the flow of light and sense of space, whilst touch button blinds can be drawn for complete privacy. Both cabins are illuminated by large portholes.
The VIP cabin is found in the bow and its large bed is unique in its positioning, placed on an angle allowing full walk-around access, as well as room for a sofa and large walk-in closet. The VIP bathroom is also extremely roomy for a yacht this size.
Following client’s request for more discreet service, the laundry, crew accommodation and engine room have a separate access point on the starboard side. Crew are able to access the galley from an external door meaning they don’t disturb guests relaxing in the saloon. Designed to run with two crew, the crew berth is spacious and well-lit for a yacht this size.

Created for sun worshippers
When it comes to deck space for socialising and relaxing, the Pearl 80 will not be found wanting. Aware that clients are far more likely to eat on deck than indoors, the yacht boasts three external dining areas; on the flybridge, at the bow and aft of the saloon on the cockpit.
Sunbathing pads are located forward on the flybridge and also to the bow. Keeping the extensive entertaining space of the flybridge free from tenders or jet skis was a design priority and consequently, they are stowed on the stern, the jet ski in its own garage, and can be launched easily without the deployment of a crane. Once launched, the stern area becomes a large hydraulically lowered bathing platform getting guests close to the water.

Impressive performance
With its deep V high speed planing hull, the Pearl 80 delivers impressive manoeuvrability and speeds of up to 35 knots. Equipped with two MAN V12-1800 with V-drives, allowing excellent weight distribution and easier maintenance. MAN engines are a tried and tested formula, credited with excellent power to weight ratio performance and an outstanding service network worldwide.
