B&G®, a company specialized in sailing and nautical instrumentation, could not fail to be on board the most innovative racing boat of the moment: FlyingNikka.

This is the first foil sailboat in the Mini Maxi category, conceived for offshore sailing. A project strongly desired by Roberto Lacorte, a sports entrepreneur with a passion for speed, which was born from the hand of a team of naval architects and foil experts, coordinated by the Irish Mark Mills of the Mills Design studio, already alongside Lacorte in the design of the legendary and winning SuperNikka.

Technology on board

As for the FlyingNikka’s on-board electronic instrumentation and on the support boat, the team will make use of the best B&G technology, starting with the wind sensors (a 1800 mm masthead unit and a WS310 kit in the bow) and Nemesis displays.

This new generation of all-in-on smart displays for sailing data offers unprecedented visualization, with full customization, plus pre-built multi-function templates and easy-to-use and set-up automatic dashboards based on your navigation point.

Nemesis – which can be installed in both vertical and horizontal orientation – allows you to define which data to display, when to display it and how, regardless of the conditions of use, providing an intuitive link between the network of instruments.

About FlyingNikka

boat racing 2022FlyingNikka will be 19 meters long and thanks to a series of latest generation appendages it will be able to navigate in full foiling at 50 knots of speed.

Ready to go into the water in just over a month – the technical launch is scheduled in Valencia at the beginning of May 2022, the official launch on a date yet to be defined, when the boat will be transported to Italy.

The boat is the result of an intense 360° work that involved, in addition to the designers coordinated by Mills, also the sailors of the team who are part of the FlyingNikka crew, therefore the Team Manager and head of the sails project Alessio Razeto, Lorenzo Bressani, Lorenzo de Felice, Andrea Fornaro and B&G ambassador Enrico Zennaro, FlyingNikka sails and performance manager.

A project based on excellence

FlyingNikka is a project based on excellence and B&G is no exception: being able to count on a world leader such as B&G as regards a fundamental aspect such as on-board instrumentation is a value and above all a guarantee of quality. and reliability. We are very happy to face this challenge with B&G at our side ”, are the words of Roberto Lacorte.

Enrico Zennaro also commented: “B&G is a world leader in terms of instrumentation, as well as being the most reliable. It is in fact present on board the boats that participate in the most important competitions in the world, from the Ocean Race, to the flying catamarans of the Sail GP circuit, to the America’s Cup… FlyingNikka therefore takes the best from all these experiences that have made other professionals, in situations where B&G instruments have always proved extremely efficient “.

The FlyingNikka project is synonymous with innovation, technological avant-garde and a racing spirit in sailing, all values that B&G places at the center of its philosophy. Having our ambassador Enrico Zennaro in the team is even more a source of pride. We can’t wait to see FlyingNikka take to the competition field “, concludes Roberto Sesenna, General Manager of Navico Italy.
