Sensors to digitise the marina

Share:

The CloudEnergy solution digitises the marina, allowing managers to keep track – remotely and in the cloud – of all marina services, including water and electricity consumption, payments, access to parking, showers, sports facilities, and much more. By integrating advanced Marina Equipment and Docks Equipment, CloudEnergy provides a comprehensive platform for modern marina management.

Being a malleable and adaptable solution to the needs of marinas, it is continuously updated by implementing new functionalities, taking its cue from customers’ needs. This adaptability makes it one of the most advanced solutions for managing smart pedestal systems, providing a seamless experience for both marina operators and users.

Boat presence sensor

Among the most interesting innovations introduced recently is the boat presence sensor, which, installed at a strategic point of the jetty (at the edge of the quay, protected with wings), detects in real-time whether the berth is free or occupied. This kind of Docks Equipment is pivotal in helping marinas optimise the management of space and services.

Berth Map

CloudEnergy’s smart sensor system communicates remotely based on special sensors positioned on the edges of the jetties, one for each berth. This system integrates smoothly with other Marina Equipment, enhancing the marina’s operational efficiency.

This allows the marina operator to know how many berths are free at any time, even without being in the vicinity of the berth, in the same way, as they already monitor the consumption of the CloudEnergy system’s smart berths, which includes smart pedestal functions for electricity and water management.

Improvements for the port manager

Finally, the marina organisation can count on an extra ally to manage the facility during peak season (especially crucial when there is a high number of transits).

Thanks to CloudEnergy’s cloud-based solutions, the marina manager can use a convenient map customised to their specifications, showing the exact location of each berth. The map is an advanced piece of Docks Equipment, designed for ease of use and maximum visibility.

The map depicts the berths, numbered or named according to the customer’s preference, with icons indicating the status of the berths coloured differently: red if the berths are occupied, green if free, grey if the sensor is not present or not available.

This detailed mapping is integrated with smart pedestal services to offer a fully connected marina experience.

The advantages are many:

  • To have in real-time the quantity, type, and exact position of free or occupied berths;
  • Intercept possible abuses;
  • Manage payments related to berth occupancy;
  • Promptly intercept the presence of customers for the provision of services requested;
  • Schedule maintenance by having the occupancy status of berths available;
  • Increase security and manage transits in an advanced manner.

For this functionality, as for the others offered by the CloudEnergy system, there is no need to install dedicated software or computers: the Cloud interface can be accessed from any device, even a smartphone.

This solution integrates effortlessly with existing Marina Equipment, offering a versatile and powerful tool for marina managers.

Improvements for the end customer

Thanks to the use of sonar technology, the sensors are able to detect the boat’s presence from the dockside without protruding from it.

The sensors thus remain invisible, because they are inside the protection of the wings, and there is no need to install any device inside the boat.

These invisible features are typical of smart pedestal systems, which keep the marina tidy and user-friendly.

The boat’s presence sensors can be installed on the boat’s existing smart water and power columns, or they can be stand-alone and operate as a cloud-controlled system integrated with the marina’s full-service management system.

As with all its applications, the CloudEnergy system includes a rich variety of reports and alerts via e-mail or SMS, which can be activated or deactivated by the marina operator:

  • FREE SEAT ALERT: a function that alerts the user when the seat they have occupied becomes free, in an anti-theft function;
  • TRANSIT REPORT (including transit history): useful for the marina manager and berth billing.

This further technological enrichment of CloudEnergy confirms the trend that the Reggio Emilia-based company has set in its RoadMap towards the supply of modern, cutting-edge systems, which are increasingly in demand by leading modern marinas.

With its advanced Marina Equipment and integrated Docks Equipment, the company continues to drive innovation in the sector, providing effective and reliable solutions for marina management.
