The new route for organic waste: treated on board

Share:

SAEC Group offers innovative onboard food waste management systems designed to reduce and manage organic waste directly on vessels, addressing the needs of cruise ships and ferries, yachts and pleasure boats, as well as merchant and cargo ships. Through advanced technology and a strong focus on sustainability, the company supports a more efficient and responsible approach to marine organic waste treatment.

The Compostyle® process treats food waste using a bioengineered degradation system based on natural thermophilic microorganisms. Unlike traditional composting, it does not require the use of structuring agents and allows for the management of 100% of incoming food waste, setting new standards for sustainable waste solutions for ships.

Main Benefits

EXCELLENT REDUCTION CAPACITY

Up to 90% of food waste is decomposed and reduced in weight and volume within 24/48 hours in Te-d®, without the use of texturizers. This high-performance process makes onboard food waste management systems an effective solution for vessels operating continuously at sea.

ECONOMIC SAVINGS

With a reduction of 90% in food waste weight and volume, full compliance with MARPOL Annex V, reduced fuel consumption, and zero sterilization and port disposal costs, CompoStyle technologies provide concrete financial advantages while supporting MARPOL Annex V compliance solutions.

COMFORT, SAFETY, AND DESIGN ON BOARD

The process does not generate odors, noise, or leachate thanks to a patented deodorization and soundproofing system. For this reason, CompoStyle® devices can be installed indoors and are designed with special anchors to withstand rolling, pitching, and rough seas, making them ideal for marine organic waste treatment even in enclosed environments.

100% NATURAL AND BIODEGRADABLE WASTE WITH ZERO TRAVEL

The waste soil, Te-d®, is created directly on board: food waste is treated and reduced by 90% on the vessel itself. This eliminates the need for landfills at ports, truck transportation, storage, and additional sterilization. The result is a tangible reduction in CO₂ emissions and a return of ecological and organic nourishment to the earth, reinforcing the value of sustainable waste solutions for ships.

Zero leachate, zero odor, and suitability for enclosed spaces complete the benefits of these advanced onboard food waste management systems.
