Nearly two years after the change of ownership, Silent Yachts has redefined its processes, models, and strategies, focusing on production efficiency and technological solidity. The new SY80 represents the synthesis of this phase: modular construction, a Made in Italy supply chain, and an approach that looks to the future of solar electric yachts with pragmatism, positioning the brand strongly within the fast-growing electric catamaran market.
Two years after the change of ownership, Silent Yachts has completed a profound industrial reorganization that has brought the Fano shipyard back to the center, where the entire production is now concentrated. Production has been reorganized according to industrial criteria. The company is thus continuing on its path of technical and operational consolidation, with the aim of strengthening its position in the ‘solar-first’ electric catamaran segment, a market that is both expanding and highly competitive in the global sustainable yachting landscape.

Recent developments
Founded in 2016, Silent Yachts is one of the pioneers in the integration of solar energy into electric propulsion systems for solar powered catamarans. After a period of financial uncertainty, in 2024 the brand was acquired by Helios Yacht Investments GmbH, a company owned by Michael Said: an American-German investor who, at the time of the acquisition, was also a client of Silent Yachts with a SY62 3-Deck under construction, bringing stability and operational continuity. Production remained in Italy, in Fano, and since then a process of consolidation has begun under the leadership of the new CEO Fabrizio Iarrera.

Reorganization and method: modular logic
The first phase of the new management involved restructuring the entire production cycle, bringing all construction activities back in-house. The goal was twofold:
• to improve quality;
• to shorten delivery times.
The real innovation, however, is the transition from traditional linear boat construction to a modular system. This means that the yacht modules are built simultaneously and assembled during the final stage, significantly speeding up the production process and improving product quality. This approach has enabled the shipyard to achieve a production rate of approximately one unit per month.
The modular logic applies not only to the process but also to the product: Silent catamarans are designed as flexible platforms, capable of accommodating technological upgrades over time in terms of both batteries and propulsion systems, thus reinforcing the concept of energy autonomous yachts and ensuring that the boat is always in step with technological developments.
Markets and prospects
From its headquarters in Fano, the Silent Yachts sales network now extends to the main international markets. In the United States, the brand has consolidated its presence with the Silent Yachts USA headquarters, while new contacts are coming in from Asia, particularly Hong Kong and China, where the luxury catamaran market is growing and offers interesting prospects for the electric catamaran market.

The next phase of development involves the creation of an in-house woodshop for the direct production of furnishings, with the aim of expanding customization and ensuring even more rigorous quality control. At the same time, the R&D department is working on new technological platforms and partnerships with suppliers specializing in electrical solutions and advanced storage systems, further strengthening the brand’s position in the sustainable yachting sector.
Silent Yachts is building an industrial structure consistent with the challenges of a rapidly changing market: that of electric propulsion and energy autonomy on board, a key pillar of the solar electric yachts revolution.

From a pioneering vision to an industrial reality
We met with Fabrizio Iarrera, CEO of Silent Yachts, to learn more about the strategic and technological choices that are driving the new phase of the Fano shipyard. From production reorganization to the modular method and development prospects.
Recently, you have undergone a profound transformation. What have been your priorities?
Over the last 2 years, we have embarked on a strong path of growth and renewal. In June 2025 we launched our flagship, the SY80, and at the end of 2024 we began collaborating with the Nuvolari Lenard design studio. In this partnership, our innovative vision will be combined with the iconic style for which the Venice-based studio is known worldwide.
On the production side, we have introduced modular processes that make construction more efficient and flexible. The team has grown rapidly: today, more than 220 people work at the Fano shipyard — a sign of the solidity and new energy that drives Silent Yachts within the solar powered catamarans segment.

Which strengths of the brand did you aim to enhance, and which aspects needed a relaunch?
Silent Yachts was born from an extraordinary intuition: to be the first to launch fully electric, solar-powered catamarans. This pioneering spirit is still at the heart of the brand today, and we wanted to reinforce it by maintaining our focus on innovation but with a more solid production base.
One of our priorities was to relaunch Made in Italy production, bringing all production activities back to our shipyard in Fano. This has allowed us to improve quality, reduce delivery times, and offer more customization options in line with the growing expectations of the electric catamaran market. We have invested heavily in the team and in expanding the range to give continuity to a vision that looks to the future but maintains its Italian roots.
Electrical systems are evolving rapidly: how do you ensure that your catamarans always keep pace?
Our catamarans are designed to be future-proof. The modular architecture allows us to replace batteries, solar panels, and electric motors individually with more efficient and up-to-date versions. This approach makes maintenance easier and faster, but above all, it guarantees owners the possibility of having a boat that is always in line with the latest technologies in solar electric yachts. Sustainability also comes from here: from the ability to build yachts that last over time and remain current, reliable, and high-performing — true energy autonomous yachts.

How does design integrate with such a technical platform?
For us, style is not just about aesthetics, but an integral part of the onboard experience. Electric yacht owners are curious people, attentive to innovation and their own values: they want to sail responsibly, but also enjoy beautiful, functional, and comfortable spaces. The collaboration with Nuvolari Lenard was born from this vision: combining the functionality typical of Silent Yachts catamarans with an elegant, contemporary Italian design language. Even in a highly technical segment, style plays a key role in conveying identity and emotion within the broader context of sustainable yachting.
What role does the SY80 play in the shipyard’s development?
The SY80 is our flagship model and represents a qualitative leap in the range. Like all our yachts, it was designed to be “solar-first” and is intended for those seeking autonomy, comfort, and low-emission navigation. The SY80 stands out for its space, volume, and level of comfort on board, which are close to those of a superyacht, taking the onboard experience to the next level in the world of solar powered catamarans.
It also offers extensive customization options on each deck, with flexible layouts and semi-custom solutions. The contribution of Marco Casali’s Too Design and MICAD to the naval architecture should be highlighted.
