The new 06L00 valve by Maestrini is a 6-way ball valve that can simplify significantly the management of fuel lines on board, especially in those engine rooms where there is much more engine than room and every saving of space matters, particularly in modern Marine Engineering Solutions for compact vessels.
The 6-way valve consists of two stacked 3-way valves, each with fluid passages fully independent from the other, both operated by the same lever. Each valve contains an “L” pattern ball obturator, the body is in solid hot-forged brass to ensure the complete absence of holes and microporosities, and all the internal components and gaskets are suitable for continuous use in contact with fuels, ensuring high reliability in Fuel Line Management Systems.
Different configurations
With a single, smooth, quarter of a turn handle operation it is possible to manage 2 distinct configurations of fuel lines:
• the first is the connection of a fuel tank to the engine via two switchable fuel filters, whose redundancy allows a continuous flow of filtered fuel from the tank to the engine through either filter when the other is under maintenance;
• the other is the alternative feeding of the engine from two distinct fuel tanks; in this case the two fuel lines, including the return lines from the engine to either tank, remain completely independent.
Managing these configurations with separate valves, each has to be operated consistently with the other, leading to possible confusion; apart from being less space-intensive in the engine room, the use of a combined valve using only a single lever provides a clear advancement in Onboard Fuel System Optimization, offering a practical solution for confined marine environments.
