am37-aston-martinAston Martin unveiled its very first speed boat at the Monaco Yacht Show, launched after two years of research and development. The AM37 offers an exceptional yachting experience thanks to her state-of-the art technology, her incredible speed, luxury design, and simple layout: the Aston Martin team itself defined it the “ultimate day-boat.”
Designed by Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman and his design team together with naval architect Mulder Design and Quintessence Yachts, the 37-feet AM37 features a seamless body with a sharp and distinctive outline. The sophisticated combination of high quality materials, finish, styling and proportion creates a luxurious and yet simple boat.
The exterior was designed to the same “golden ratio” applied to Aston Martin’s world renowned car design. A single piece of sculpted glass used for the wraparound windscreen and the double curvature create a fluid and innovative design. The interior is fully customised according to the owner’s wishes, with the cabin featuring a lavatory and a seating area that can be converted into a daybed. The powerboat accommodates six passengers and two crew members.
The AM37 is available in two versions. The one with a top speed of 45 knots comes with either two 370 hp Mercury diesel engines or two 430 hp Mercury petrol engines. The AM37S, with an estimated top speed of 50 knots has twin 520 hp Mercury petrol engines.
The electrical cockpit cover can easily be stowed away either pressing a dedicated button or through a synchronised iWatch for remote control. The easy handling and manoeuvrability. The boat is designed to be easily handled and manoeuvred even by first-time owners, who could learn to handle it in about an hour.
Aston Martin plans to build no more than 10 boats per year, an exclusive production that perfectly reflects the legacy of the famous luxury car builder. The first unit has already been sold to a customer who had just seen sketches of the design: it is scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of next year. Construction can take up to 18 months if a high level of customisation is required, otherwise production time is about 32 weeks.
