Oceanco new 90m superyacht concept Cosmos

A new 90-metre superyacht concept, named Cosmos, has been unveiled by Oceanco.

The superyacht is the result of yet another fruitful collaboration among the Dutch yard and the Miami-based designer Luiz DeBasto, while the yacht’s hull has been developed in partnership with British naval architecture firm BMT Nigel Gee.

Luiz DeBasto is known for his imaginative designs that can be built on a large scale: Oceanco’s engineering department made sure that such a stunning project would  be able to turn into reality.
The 90-metre superyacht project features an innovative and impressive way to use glass as a construction material for the exterior of the yacht.

The main concept behind the project is the wish to create a deeper connection with the surrounding seascape, while retaining the feeling of a controlled and safe environment. For this reason, the sporty and progressive lines drawing the exteriors of the vessel include a generous glass dome covering a sky-lounge.

Located on the upper deck, this dome-shaped observation lounge “provides an interesting tension between being adventurous and being safe”, as commented by the yacht’s designer DeBasto, and might be dimmed or tinted in different colours so to match the mood onboard.

The impressive dome structure was carefully analysed by the yard’s engineering department in order to ensure its feasibility. “The glass dome, while it looks simple, is extremely complex in order to comply with all the regulations,” commented DeBasto. Among the engineering details, for instance, there is the UV protection of the glass panels forming the dome.

Inside the sky deck, DeBasto also conceived a flexible space where to dine under the stars from the comfort of a completely enclosed luxurious space. An open observation deck, accessed via sliding glass doors, is located forward this area, which would also be fitted with an outdoor spa pool.

Other amenities available on board Cosmos include a superyacht helipad on the foredeck and an aft-deck infinity pool. Al fresco dining areas in the cockpit and on the upper deck aft offer plenty of seating options for ten people.
