MADS, a company based in Bibbiano (in the province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna), founded in 2016, has already established itself as a reliable provider of marine turnkey solutions. The historic Swedish company Emotron selected MADS as its official partner for Italy, recognizing the value of its expertise.

Emotron, with over 50 years of experience in electrical control systems for yachts, was founded in 1972 and later joined the multinational CG Drives Group. This global company manufactures electric motors, transformers, cabinets, and various other products for the marine sector. Apart from a line produced in India for the Asian market, all marine solutions are manufactured in Sweden and Germany, where cabinet solutions are designed and developed.

“It is as if we were Emotron’s Italian headquarters,” commented Luca Tumiati, Sales & Technical Director at MADS. “In Bibbiano, we operate an authorized technical office for repairs and manage a large warehouse, allowing us to supply customers across Italy in under 24 hours.”

Target Market

“Our clients are marine system integrators who develop projects for yacht owners. We help by recommending the best product for specific needs: winches, anchor windlasses, maneuvering propellers… But with new green marine markets, we also offer hybrid propulsion for yachts and solutions for passenger boats, such as small lake vessels,” explained Tumiati.

MADS not only distributes Emotron marine products but also offers comprehensive after-sales support, guiding customers throughout the entire service chain. “Our reach extends across Italy, particularly in coastal regions like Liguria, Campania, Marche, and Tuscany.”

Main Goals

MADS’s primary goal is to help partners achieve marine energy management efficiency, including the popular scrubber systems for cruise ships, which optimize energy use and reduce air pollution. “We also focus on upgrading equipment for handling vessels and their components. For example, in modern ports, electric maneuvering propellers have replaced thermal motor systems, significantly reducing port pollution and providing better vessel control,” Tumiati noted.

In the marine sector, high power levels require specialized solutions, and water-cooled systems (Liquid Cool) are essential. Emotron is one of the few companies able to offer this technology.

Training and Technical Know-How

Emotron’s products are known for their high technical and technological content, which is why MADS technicians receive technical training in Sweden at least once a year. CG Drives & Automation has recognized MADS’s expertise by certifying it as a Level 2 Service Centre – an Authorized Value-Added Reseller, distinguishing it as a preferred partner.

Our team’s extensive technical know-how and a well-stocked warehouse with official Emotron spare parts allow us to support maintenance for systems even outside Italy,” said Tumiati. MADS’s stock includes inverters up to 315 kW and soft starters up to 250 kW.

Corporate Philosophy

The marine and naval sector continues to provide growth opportunities for MADS, which aims to promote Emotron marine products and establish itself as a trustworthy and versatile partner. The company’s mission is to provide personalized and swift support.

We proudly describe ourselves as a bit old-fashioned in that we believe in close, step-by-step customer support until we achieve the shared goal,” Tumiati emphasized. “We are always at the customer’s disposal, fostering open communication and quick intervention, and we have received excellent feedback on this rare but highly valued service.”
