Marche Shipyards with an international flavour

The “Il Bello e Ben Fatto – Made in Marche” event also included the opportunity for journalists to participate in a tour of the main shipyards in Ancona.

Attending the “Il Bello e Ben Fatto – Made in Marche” event, conceived and promoted by the Marche Yachting and Cruising Association, we had the opportunity to visit Ferretti Superyacht Division, Cantiere delle Marche, and Palumbo Superyachts. The tour offered a direct view of the boats under construction, on delivery or already launched.

FERRETTI SUPERYACHT DIVISION

At the Ferretti shipyard, the meeting opened with institutional greetings from the Deputy Mayor of Ancona Giovanni Zinni, the Regional Councillor for Productive Activities Andrea Maria Antonini, and the head of the Marche Region’s Economic Development Department Stefania Bussoletti, who reiterated how the boating industry can be an engine of development for the entire region, thanks to the combination of craftsmanship, innovation, and quality tourism.

Design and construction of fully customised steel and aluminium yachts Ferretti Superyacht Division, the Ferretti Group’s Ancona shipyard, is today a multi-brand centre of excellence. Founded in 1963 as the CRN shipyard, specialising in the design and construction of fully customised steel and aluminium yachts from 45 to 95 m, it has now become the Group’s Superyacht Division, one of Europe’s most important and advanced production facilities in the nautical sector.

Today the structure designs and builds the CRN, Riva and Pershing 140 pleasure craft models, as well as the entire Custom Line fleet. The Superyacht Division is equipped with a private marina that is also the main testing, launching and delivery centre for Ferretti Group yachts.

Technical innovation and craftsmanship

Between April and May, at the Ancona facility, Custom Line celebrated the launch of 6 new made-to-measure yachts, 3 Navettas and 3 planing line yachts, confirming a production rhythm that highlights the yard’s strength and organisation. With these, the brand reaches 11 yachts launched from the beginning of the year to spring.

Each yacht is a unique creation, a synthesis of technical innovation and craftsmanship savoir-faire, in a tailor-made construction process designed to express the identity of the client.

Riva’s first 54-m unit Also of note is the recent launch of Riva’s first 54-m unit, the largest Riva superyacht ever built. This vessel 4 four decks – with lower, main and upper decks connected by a lift located amidships – and can accommodate up to 10 guests on board in 4 guest cabins and a majestic owner’s suite located forward on the main deck. The crew quarters, on the other hand, feature 5 double cabins and a captain’s cabin adjacent to the wheelhouse, for a total of 11 people. The interiors are characterised by the use of precious marbles such as Sahara Noir and Bianco Rhino, alternating with natural teak panelling and leather finishes, which create elegant plays of contrasting colours and materials in every area of the yacht.

Marche Shipyard

Founded in 2010 in Ancona, on the initiative of experienced managers and yacht builders, Cantiere delle Marche quickly earned an excellent reputation and a prominent position in the ranking of the world’s best shipyards.

Today, Cantiere delle Marche builds luxury long-range Explorer yachts ranging from 26 to 49 m in length, which are appreciated worldwide. 3 warehouses With 3 purpose-built warehouses covering a total area of approximately 10,000 sq.m surrounded by 6,000 sq.m of yard for auxiliary activities and handling, Cantiere delle Marche operates within the port area of Ancona, adjacent to the Marina Dorica, the city’s marina.

All warehouses host construction workstations and mezzanines with offices and workshops. The main hall has a total area of 6,170 sq.m with several construction positions, while 2 newly built halls with 3 construction positions cover an area of 1,702 and 2,025 sq.m respectively. In 2019, Cantiere delle Marche opened a private dock with 750 sq.m of operational area and 4 berths for yachts up to 50 m. This dock is used for both delivery and refitting of yachts.

Palumbo Superyachts

The Palumbo Superyachts division is today among the leaders in the international market in the construction of both composite and metal yachts and superyachts.

There are 4 brands of Palumbo Superyachts.

The first, Columbus Yachts, is characterised by a tailor-made approach involving the development of customised projects.

ISA Yachts is recognised for style and high-end construction. Elegance and high performance are the elements that distinguish this brand.

Created to guarantee the owner close contact with the sea and nature, the Extra Yachts range is distinguished by yachts that focus on modernity, comfort and fun. The distinctive lines of the Extra Yachts range offer a range of models from 76’ to 130’ and a 30-m motor catamaran, all with interiors and exteriors with maximum liveability, low consumption and ample autonomy.

Finally, Mondomarine is a historic brand, linked to the production of aluminium and steel superyachts from 40 to 75 m.

The headquarters

The Ancona shipyard, which covers 52,000 sq.m, is the headquarters for the construction of new yachts and is located in the production district historically devoted to the construction of superyachts. Focused on the design and production of customised yachts, the yard works closely with customers from conceptual and engineering development to construction and final delivery. Equipped with a large superyacht lifting platform in the Adriatic Sea, the yard has developed a strong expertise in building, refitting, maintaining and converting all types and sizes of superyachts. In addition to the shipyard in Ancona, the company has a second shipyard, in Savona, of 30,000 sq.m.
