Plenty of space aft, low freeboard, and a fully open design to enjoy life close to the water: this is the Maxim Max 43. Maxim Yachts forms part of a family-owned holding, active since 1923. Today, the company is led by CEO José Forné, with the support of his 4 children. Entirely developed in Barcelona, the Maxim 43 brings together design by Alex Cherigny, production managed directly by Maxim Yachts, and engineering carried out by the Isonaval technical office.
A sporty, minimalist but warm character To maximise space in the cockpit, the steering console of the Maxim Max 43 has been positioned slightly forward compared to many competitors, giving the boat its distinctive look. The result is a sporty, minimalist character that nonetheless feels warm and inviting. From the moment one steps aboard, the layout encourages effortless movement and a relaxed atmosphere for entertaining friends at anchor in a secluded Mediterranean bay. The bow is sharply vertical, complemented by a reverse sheer line for a modern silhouette. The most distinctive area on board is undoubtedly the aft, where 2 foldable balconies integrate seamlessly into the structure, finished in teak to match the rest of the deck. When deployed, they expand the beam by an additional 50 cm per side, significantly increasing usable space — a hallmark of contemporary Walkaround Design.

Layout A generous sunbed, with integrated storage and electric lifting mechanism, occupies the centre of the aft side of the deck, covering the engine compartment beneath. To each side, sturdy handrails provide safety when moving about. A discreet freshwater shower with both hot and cold water is also available, neatly concealed when not in use. The area is highly modular. The sunbed converts into a dining space with 2 folding tables and surrounding sofas on both port and starboard sides. Also, 2 additional individual seats are available, 1 of which serves also as a portable refrigerator. The layout allows for full flexibility: owners can open 1 or both tables depending on the number of guests, easily switching between an open passageway and a social gathering space. Moving forward, the kitchen features a ceramic hob, sink, and two large refrigerators — with the option to install more fridges plus an ice maker for extended autonomy.
A sporty helm with a motorsport touch
The carbon-fibre helm console seats four, configured either as 2 pairs or 4 independent seats. The pilot station features two 16-inch Garmin displays and eleven analogue gauges. In addition to offering redundancy and safety, these analogue indicators give the console a motorsport appeal. The entire configuration can be customized to suit owner preferences, including infotainment systems. Two racing-inspired switches with red protective covers stand out against the black carbon fibre dashboard, reinforcing the console’s technical appeal and defining a true Sporty Helm identity. A large carbon-fibre hardtop provides protection from the sun while preserving the boat’s sleek profile. The structure is solidly integrated with the forward windscreen, offering excellent wind and spray protection even at high speeds – an open invitation to unleash the boat’s full potential. The entertainment system includes a JL Audio package with 8 speakers, 2 amplifiers, and a subwoofer. 2 alternative layouts are available for the cockpit: one features a seamless connection between the helm and the forward sunbed, while the other introduces a large aft-facing bench seat with 3 additional seats opposite.
Engine options
As with the design, great care has been taken in the engine configurations. The Max 43’s light weight and dynamic hull design allow for both inboard and outboard options, offering top speeds of up to 45 knots while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency. • Inboard version: powered by twin Volvo Penta Diesel D6 DPI 440 hp engines, the Comfort version reaches 42 knots top speed with a cruising speed of 25 knots. • Outboard version: equipped with twin Mercury Racing 450s, this configuration achieves 45 knots maximum speed and cruises at around 30 knots. Both variants carry a 1,250-lt fuel tank and a 300-lt water tank, providing generous cruising range. While the outboard option slightly reduces aft deck space, careful placement and the wide beam preserve functionality, keeping the side platforms easily accessible.
Surprising interior space
A set of 3 steps leads down to the interior, where the standing height is remarkable: 2.10 m forward and 1.95m aft. Inside, a lateral bench includes pre-installation for an indoor kitchen if desired. The bathroom is well appointed, featuring a bench that doubles as a shower seat, 2 separate mixers – 1 handheld, 1 overhead – and a WC discreetly hidden beneath. Towards the stern, a small passageway leads to the aft cabin, which can be arranged as a chaise longue or furnished with custom cabinetry to suit the owner’s preferences. As with the exterior, flexibility and attention to detail define the Maxim 43’s interior concept. Beyond yacht building, the Forné family remains active in various industries, bringing entrepreneurial expertise and a meticulous eye for detail to Maxim Yachts — reinforcing its identity as a Luxury Daycruiser builder.
