E1, organiser of the UIM E1 World Championship, announced that the RaceBird, the all-electric foiling raceboat that will compete in the inaugural season of E1, will be on display to the general public for the first time at the renowned Salone Nautico Venezia 2022.

The RaceBird will be on display in the iconic Arsenale of Venice venue, located at Tesa 113, from Saturday, May 28 up until Sunday, June 5.

About RaceBird

The vessel at the exhibit will be present in the form of a static model, out of the water, so to give visitors the chance to closely admire the concept, the futuristic design, sleek lines (conceptualised by Norwegian designer Sophi Horne and brought to life by engineers at SeaBird Technologies and Victory Marine) and discover more about the philosophy behind the project.

The public will have the opportunity to learn more about E1 and explore other key components of the championship through interactive displays.

Venice, forefront city for the electric power transition

This news follows the announcement last month of the Venice Racing Team, the first team entry in the UIM E1 World Championship. The Venice Racing Team has been created by entrepreneur Francesco Pannoli specially to compete in E1.

This project is set to be the first sustainable, fully-electric racing series on water with the goal of providing a focus and platform for the many marine institutions and companies in Italy, that are now beginning to address the challenge of electrifying marine transport in the leisure boating sector, as well as marine mobility dedicated to public use.

The city of Venice, with its involvement in electric projects, has an opportunity to position itself at the forefront of the transition to electric power, thus intensifying its commitment. A sustainable event on the water could also be helpful in attracting a more conscious tourism that would share the city’s values of sustainability and innovation.

Representatives of the Venice Racing Team will also be present at the show to meet event attendees and the general public and answer questions about their involvement in E1.

Rodi Basso, Co-Founder & CEO of E1, said: “Venice is a city close to the heart of E1; it is, after all, the ‘City of Water’ and the home to one of our racing teams. We could not think of a better place to showcase the RaceBird to the public for the first time than at the Salone Nautico Venezia. The show is a celebration of Venice’s rich naval history, as well as being a platform for pioneering new sustainable technologies in the marine industry.
