New simulator facility in Le Havre supplied by Kongsberg Maritime

Share:

grande_mareeA new maritime simulator facility has been inaugurated at the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM), the national school offering certified maritime training, in Le Havre, France. The contract for the simulators’ equipment was assigned after a competition held last summer in June. The new facility, designed around a ‘ship’ configuration, features an extensive suite of ship’s bridge and engine room simulators from Kongsberg Maritime, which were delivered in September.
ENSM’s new equipment will enable instructors to provide their students with advanced training scenarios in a realistic ‘ship-in-a-school’ environment. More realistic simulation will certainly enhance a deeper learning, with increased user benefits and improved capabilities.
The integrated training solution includes a full mission K-Sim Engine simulator system distributed onto two floors and four full mission ship’s bridge simulators based on K-Sim Navigation technology. The ship’s bridge systems is equipped with a large DNV Class A bridge, integrated with Kongsberg’s K-Pos Dynamic Positioning system and a ship’s bridge specially designed for tugging and inland waterway scenarios. The simultaneous use of the ship’s bridge and engine room simulators allows interdepartmental team training to enhance interaction and communication skills among  different departments on board.
