A new Nobiskrug 80-metre superyacht project under construction

A Nobiskrug 80-metre superyacht project is currently under construction at the shipyard’s facilities in Rendsburg, Kiel, where the ceremonial keel-laying took place last week.

An 80-tonne block was lifted into the building shed and, as tradition requires, the owner placed a coin under the keel, which will be returned once the construction is completed and kept as a good luck charm.

Holger Kahl, managing director at Nobiskrug, commented: “This happy occasion indicates the start of the hull assembly of the superyacht — when, for the first time she is considered to have a soul. It is also a traditional maritime ceremony to bring good fortune to a vessel during her construction and to her captain, guests and crew during her life.”

The latest superyacht project by the German yard has been designed by Gregory C Marshall and it is being built in materials such as steel, aluminium and teak. The vessel will feature a large amount of glass, and boast innovative technology and generous interior spaces. She is expected for delivery in 2019.

Holger Kahl also commented about this latest project: “Nobiskrug is known for pushing the boundaries and for not being a mass builder, every superyacht we build represents a unique vision of the owner — this project is just another example we are very proud of.”
