Icon Yachts Project RagnarIcon Yachts is currently working on a new conversion project, named Project Ragnar. The original vessel, the 68-metre Sanaborg, was built as an ice breaking support supply vessel in the Netherlands in 2012. The vessel, which got to Icon Yachts’ facilities in the month of July, is expected to be transformed into a luxury expedition superyacht.

Project Ragnar will feature a certified ICE Class A1 hull, which, together with LY3 class and unique ICE Class PC5 rated electric driven ice pods, will allow her to be an explorer yacht capable of reaching the most remote parts of the world with a range of 6,000 nm.

The British design studio RWD will be responsible of the vessel’s new design. During the conversion, several tanks originally fitted on the Sanaborg will be removed and converted into leisure areas for entertainment and relaxation, leaving plenty of room left for storage as well as a swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Up to 12 guests will comfortably accommodated on board.

Project Ragnar is to feature an extensive range of  tenders and toys also attribute to her explorer classification: two 8-metre tenders, two 6-metre ribs, a Sea Explorer submarine, a helicopter and luxury Ripsaw EV2 will be housed onboard the vessel.

Following the rebuild of the explorer yacht Legend last year, Icon Yachts has received plenty of enquiries for conversion projects. The company will be attending this year’s edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, where more details about Project Ragnar will be unveiled.
