The 107-metre Ulysses, an impressive luxury explorer yacht

UlyssesA new 107-metre Ulysses yacht has recently been added to a series of yachts sharing the same name. Ulysses is an explorer superyacht combining self-sufficient ocean-crossing capabilities and extreme luxury.
Built by Norway-based Kleven, a shipyard specializing in robust commercial and offshore vessels, she has been constructed upon the proven deep-water platforms designed by naval architects and concept designers Marin Teknikk. This allowed for a solid ship, with reduced construction time (less than two years) and complete customisation. Together with Marin Teknikk, the project has been carried out by Oscar Mike as exterior stylist, H2 Yacht Design for interior design, and Manta Maritime as technical managers.
The design challenge and focus was all about the extremely generous spaces offered by a steel-hulled vessel of little less than a 6000 gross tonnage. “The scale is pretty immense and we were working with some really big spaces,” explained Jonny Horsfield, founder of H2 Yacht Design. Large continuous guest areas characterize all deck spaces.
An impressive 400sqm pool deck offers various outdoor entertaining opportunities, including a family-sized Jacuzzi and 12-metre swimming pool. This outdoor space leads to the pool house, a full-beam social area with wrap-around glass sliding doors. On top of Ulysses’ superstructure, at 21 metres above sea level, an isolated viewing deck offers unparalleled ocean views.
The vessel accommodates guests across three decks and 15 suites. The owner’s own deck is just like a contemporary apartment: the master bedroom is connected to a private aft deck with an office and lounge space. Guest cabins are located on the pool deck, and crew members as well enjoy extra spacious cabins and communal areas.
Ulysses is equipped with a helicopter landing pad accommodating a Bell 429 or EC145 helicopter, stored in a dedicated hangar. Refueling capabilities provided on board allow for a fully self-sufficient vessel. Plenty of water and land toys are also stored onboard, such as a landing craft, ATV’s dune buggies, sailing boats, motorbikes and a fully equipped dive centre.
Ulysses’ tender fleet include a 21-metre catamaran, the U-21 for deep-sea fishing and comfortable cruising. Inside is accommodation for seven guests in five cabins. Two dedicated Palfinger 30-tonn cranes serve the tender and launch her into the water over the port side of the foredeck.
Featuring six Caterpillar engines, Ulysses is powered by twin azimuth stern drives allowing for a top speed of 16.8 knots. Fully loaded she can cover a range of 8,500 nautical miles without having to stop.
