Garmin has recently released its new product Reactor 40 Autopilot. Reactor 40 hydraulic autopilot keeps you on course at cruising speeds, minimizes heading error, reduces power consumption and more, so you can be more comfortable while cruising. Solid-state 9-axis Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) sensors provide reliable vessel control in all sea and weather conditions and consistent heading accuracy within 2 degrees. Flexible mounting options and quick, easy commissioning make installation easier.

Reactor 40 – hydraulic corepack with smartpump
One SmartPump fits most hydraulically steered boating applications. SmartPump brushless motor drive eliminates the risk of rudder “hard over.” Patented Shadow Drive technology automatically disengages the autopilot if you take the helm and re-engages when you hold a steady course. No rudder feedback required.
Reactor 40 – steer-by-wire standard corepack
This corepack brings our Reactor 40 autopilot technology to vessels with select steer-by-wire control systems, including Yanmar electric power steering for the JC10 joystick system, SeaStar Optimus systems and ZF 2800 Pod drive steering systems. Patented Shadow Drive technology gives you the security of knowing you maintain control even when the autopilot is engaged.
Reactor™ 40 – mechanical / retrofit / solenoid corepack
Ideal for sailboaters with direct or cable-actuated steering systems, this reactor below-deck autopilot gives captains that “extra set of hands” they need. When paired with a rudder feedback sensor, it is compatible with a variety of retrofit applications with pumps, drives and solenoids already on board. Supports heading hold, wind hold, step turns and tack/ jibe modes.

Autopilot with GHC 20 and shadow drive
Includes all components of the autopilot with the addition of the GHC 20 autopilot control unit and a Shadow Drive. The Shadow Drive allows you to simply turn the wheel to take control of the helm. Hold a constant course to re-engage the autopilot.
Compact Reactor 40 – hydraulic autopilot with GHC 20
Includes all components of the starter pack with the addition of the GHC 20 autopilot control unit. GHC 20 allows the autopilot to be set up without the need for a compatible Garmin chartplotter.

Ideal for single-engine outboard boats less than 30’ in length to provide relief from manually holding the wheel to maintain course.
