Boero YachtCoatings, from over fifty years one of the top players in the manufacturing of paint products for yachts and superyachts, signs a new and important project, supplying the complete paint system for the EVO 120 yacht by Tecnomar, a brand of The Italian Sea Group, one of the most affirmed superyacht builders in Italy and worldwide.
All the products selected by Boero YachtCoatings for this new project, have been specifically studied in order to guarantee the preservation of the functionality and beauty of the hull, protecting the surface from UV rays and maintaining high-level aesthetics, as was the request for this yacht project, which unites engineering optimisation with cutting edge design for a result of timeless style.
Products for the EVO 120
In particular, above the waterline, in the wide range of products offered by Boero YachtCoatings, the Delta 3000 epoxy primer was chosen, covered then by Epolight Win, the extra-light epoxy filler which offers an excellent aesthetic without adding excessive weight to the yacht and therefore enhancing speed performances.
The successive product chosen is Epomar, a finishing filler which has been applied to eliminate any small irregularity and to obtain an extremely even surface.
As a barrier-coat after the fillers, Delta UC HB was chosen for its impeccable protection, resistance and adherence, above which were applied Epoply, the two-component epoxy undercoat, and Challenger PRO, the polyacrylic two-component topcoat, in a white shade for the hull and metallic gray combined with white for the superstructure.
Developed for the toughest marine weather conditions, Challenger PRO is able to ensure protection from UV rays and meteorological agents, combined with an excellent aesthetic.
The colour range available is extremely broad with over 200.000 shades in the Challenger Mix database and, furthermore, the possibility of custom colours on request. The topcoat is available in three different versions: direct gloss and double-layer with the possibility of special effects such as metallic and pearlescent.
Protection of the hull
Even below the waterline the products selected offer the maximum coverage and protection of the hull: starting from the epoxy primer Delta 3000, then applying the protective primer Defender and finally the Magellan 630 Extra antifouling, the top-quality self-polishing in the Boero YachtCoatings range.
This was developed to have bright colours and a controlled biocide release thanks to the SPC technology (Self Polishing Copolymer), which offers high performances against marine fouling, optimising fuel use and therefore lowering GHG emissions.
Great partnership and results
“Boero YachtCoatings regularly studies the proper paint system for every yacht project and agrees upon every phase of the project with the shipyard, in order to obtain the optimal result. We are very proud of this new yacht, which demonstrates the top-quality performances offered by the Boero YachtCoatings products, such as Epolight Win, the lightest filler on the market, and the broad colour range of the innovative Challenger PRO line, able to offer quality and customisation like never before” highlights Luca Serventi, Yachting Sales Manager for the Boero Group.
“We are very satisfied of the collaboration with Boero YachtCoatings, an Italian excellence in the yachting segment. The products used in the paint system offered a final result with a perfect and uniform brilliance, which, reflecting on the hull of Tecnomar Evo 120, enhances its colours and elegance” adds Marco Figara, Production Director of The Italian Sea Group.
