Lumen E10

JR Yachts of the Netherlands has unveiled its latest innovation, the Lumen E10, at the Royal Yacht Club in Muiden. This all-electric boat, designed to cover long distances in complete silence, is the culmination of five years of meticulous research. Unlike other electric boats, the Lumen E10 eliminates the combustion engine noise, reducing all sources of ancillary noise.

The Lumen E10 features an upper hull designed by Mulder Design and an underwater hull by Jaap de Jonge of JR Yachts. The vessel boasts a range of 100-160km at a cruising speed of 13km per hour. The Lumen E10 also allows for water skiing or wakeboarding at speeds of 30-35km/h. Its spacious cockpit, sun bed, and swimming platform offer a luxurious and peaceful sailing experience, combining the tranquility of sailing with the convenience of a motorboat.

The Lumen E10 is designed to be as quiet as possible, with no parts that produce ancillary noise. Its propellers are crafted to minimize sound, and its steering system responds like a car, making it easy to handle and moor even for those without boating experience.

Waterline length and hull shape are critical to the boat’s performance. A streamlined hull shape with minimal drag enhances energy efficiency, allowing for longer voyages on a single charge. This efficient design means more time on the water and less time at the charging station.

The Lumen E10 is constructed using vinylester and vacuum-infused sandwich construction, making the hull 50% lighter than those made from aluminium or polyester. This material choice, combined with a hard gel coat, ensures durability and resistance to wear, tear, osmosis, and impact, thus reducing maintenance and operational costs.

Thanks to its lightweight construction, the Lumen E10 offers a range of 100 to 160 kilometers on a single battery charge at a speed of 13 mph. This extensive range allows for all-day sailing with the assurance of sufficient power to cover long distances, providing a carefree and enjoyable boating experience.

The Lumen E10 is set to embark on a Dutch and international tour, starting with the Frisian wetlands in the Netherlands, followed by stops in Switzerland, Italy, and southern France. This tour aims to introduce the innovative electric boat to a broader audience, showcasing its unique features and capabilities.
