Can level measurement also be obtained by means of a local pressure gauge without the need for electronic power supply?
With the self-powered gauge of the SPG series it is possible.
SPG instruments are marine pressure gauges specifically designed for tank level monitoring through local level indication. Primarily used on cruise ships, they are also finding development for local applications and indications of water levels, urea levels and diesel levels inside tanks on many other types of vessels.
The importance of accuracy
Especially when inspecting tanks and checking levels, it is very important that the accurate tank measurement is reliable and easy to read.
The SPG (Self Powered Gauge) series consists of a diaphragm, a capillary and a pressure gauge. The pressure exerted by the level inside the tank presses on the diaphragm which is then transmitted to the pressure gauge by the gas inside the capillary. The special internal movement of the pressure gauge moves the pointer on the customized dial thus indicating the desired level value.

Customizable series
The dial scale can be customized to the actual tank levels, regardless of whether the measuring case has a regular or irregular profile. The scale can be indicated in level, volume or both, and in any required units of measurement.
Each instrument is individually calibrated, and can work even in the worst conditions: from an accurate measurement of very low level values up to a measurement with a 30 m long capillary. Different types of installations are possible. The main construction types are with immersed separators with a flange above the tank, with external mounting and non-return valve, or with a submerged tube. Virtually all existing installation requirements can thus be easily met.
This non electronic level sensor is available in standard materials such as SS AISI 316/L and in special materials such as Titanium or Hastelloy C-276 for the parts in contact with the fluid, suitable for different types of applications.
The SPG series is certified by Rina, Bureau Veritas, LLOYD Register, DNV and ATEX.
It is a precise, reliable and robust instrument that has nothing to envy to electronic devices, also bringing enormous advantages in installation and maintenance.
