Second hull of Oyster 118 sold

oyster-118Oyster Yachts has recently signed the first contract of 2017, for the second hull of its 118 sailing yacht, whose first hull had been sold in September 2015.
Designed and developed in three years by the successful and longstanding partnership between Oyster Yachts and Humphreys Yacht Design, which have already been collaborating to 359 other yacht projects since the foundation of the shipyard in 1973, the 118 is a natural evolution of the previous model Oyster 115 featuring a plumb bow, soft chin, and twin rudder.
CEO of Oyster yachts, David Tydeman, so described the evolution of the concept: “The 115 grew into the 118 after we added three feet on the back. Once we got into the detailed design with the first client we had to stretch the lazaretto because of the position of the steering pedestals behind the cockpit, followed by the sheet winches, there was just a little bit of squeeze when getting round the side deck.”
Some innovation is featured on board: the mid-boom, single-point mainsheet entering the bimini top to run down through the glazed carbon-reinforced salon entry-bulkhead to the captive winch, below the bulkhead. Oyster is already discussing for hulls three and four of the same model.
